North Carolina Master Chorale

Founded as the Raleigh Oratorio Society, the North Carolina Master Chorale is committed to bringing the very finest in choral music performance to Raleigh and North Carolina audiences. Under the direction of Dr. Alfred E. Sturgis since 1993, the organization includes the large volunteer Chorale and a professional Chamber Choir of 22 singers.

Chorus Basics: Mixed adult chorus, 170 singers

    Audition: Required

    Dues/Fees: $70 per year, plus cost of music

    Other expenses: Singers are required to buy their music and provide their concert wardrobe (designated attire for women and tuxedoes for men). A limited number of need-based dues scholarships are available.

    When: Tuesday, 7:30 - 9:45 PM

    Rehearsal Season: August to May

      Venue Notes

        Located between McDowell and Salisbury streets, and Hargett and Morgan streets, in downtown Raleigh. The entrance to access Memorial Hall (the rehearsal venue) is located off the main parking lot, between the church’s buildings.
