Bach Christmas Oratorio & German Carols

Duke Chapel once again provides the timeless backdrop for the Choral Society of Durham with orchestra, this year celebrating the season and Dr. Wynkoop's 25th year as conductor. CSD presents Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio: the first three cantatas will be performed on Saturday and the second three on Sunday. The story of Christ's birth is taken from the gospels of Luke and Matthew and sung in recitative, while choruses, solos and numerous familiar and well-loved chorales add a variety of musical textures.  Both concerts also include a selection of traditional German carols.
