The Titan & Sacred Music

To Beethoven, the Mass in C Major was a special work. “I believe I have treated the text as it has seldom been treated.” The Mass, first performed in 1807 is Beethoven’s lone contribution to the series of masses written for Prince Esterházy by Josef Haydn and Johann Hummel, commissioned as concert works each year for performance on the Sunday following his wife’s name-day. The concert will also include Beethoven's Leonora Overture No. 3.

    Directing: Lawrence Speakman

Accompanying: Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, conductor and artistic director Lorenzo Muti
