DESCRIPTION:New Horizons Choir Celebrates 50 Years with Milestone Anniversary Reunion Concert\nRALEIGH, N.C. — The historic New Horizons Choir (1976-2007) is proud to announce its 50th Anniversary Reunion concert, marking half a century of musical excellence, community, and inspiration. The celebratory event will take place on Sunday, November 1, at 3:00 p.m. at Amanah RUSH A.M.E. Zion Church, located at 554 E. Cabarrus St., Raleigh, NC. Doors will open to the public at 2:30 p.m.\nNew Horizons Choir was established in 1976 on the campus of North Carolina State University under the direction of Eleania B. Ward, assistant director of music in the Music Department. The name signaled a “new beginning.” Specializing in Gospel, Negro Spirituals, and music by Black composers, the group performed from New York to Florida to as far west as Cinncinatti, OH. One hundred plus members, under the direction of Ron Foreman, return to Raleigh to celebrate – Our story. Our Song. Our Legacy.\nSpecial Guest Performances\nThe anniversary concert will feature two guest ensembles with strong ties to the New Horizons Choir:\n\nRestoration Choir, directed by New Horizons Choir alumnus, Elder Marquintin Wilkins\nAnointed Daughters in Christ (ADC), an ensemble composed of and directed by Rev. Dr. Paul S. Atlas, all New Horizons alumni\n\nTogether, the ensembles will honor their shared roots and celebrate the choir’s enduring legacy.\nAdmission to the 50th Anniversary Reunion concert is free and open to the entire community.
