The Durham Community Chorale presents “Voices of Light”
What does it mean to be a light in the world? Our program explores that question through extraordinary songs, spanning rock, soul, jazz, classical choral music, Broadway, and American folk tradition. Some of these pieces are declarations of love, offered as simple gifts from one person to another. Others are calls to action, urging us to open our eyes and rise to the challenges of our time. Several speak of hope carried through darkness — a lantern held out for someone who is struggling, a dream pursued against impossible odds, a faith that refuses to be extinguished. Taken together, the selections in Voices of Light remind us that music itself is a form of illumination: it helps us see each other more clearly, feel less alone, and find our way forward. We are grateful to share this light with you.
