Founded in 1970 to present major choral works with orchestral accompaniment.
Meredith College Community Chorus is a non-auditioned, mixed choral ensemble that sings quality literature comprised of known classics, overlooked masterpieces, and works by contemporary composers. Rehearsals are designed to encourage a well-rounded musician, with a focus on healthy vocal technique, strong aural skills, musical and text analysis, understanding of historical or contemporary context, and performing skills. Rehearsals are on Sundays from 3-5 PM in Jones Hall, room 121. Please contact Dr. Shannon Gravelle if you have any questions.
The North Carolina Summer Opera, the newest opera organization established in 2018, is proud to present its first production, Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot in semi-staged workshop with chorus in Durham and Raleigh in August 2018!
We plan to produce one opera each summer in the Research Triangle area.
Hailed by critics as Raleigh’s premier choral ensemble, the North Carolina Master Chorale consists of a 160-voice Symphonic Choir, a smaller Chamber Choir, and a Youth Choir for high school students. Founded in 1942 as the Raleigh Oratorio Society, the Master Chorale has spread exceptional choral music throughout the Triangle for over 80 years.
The NC Master Chorale Youth Choir provides a professionally directed environment for high school musicians (grades 9-12) from across the Triangle to study, prepare, and perform choral music at the highest level. A part of the NC Master Chorale family and hosted by NC State University's Department of Performing Arts & Technology, the ensemble performs often with the NCMC Symphonic Chorus and has become a regular feature on the NC Master Chorale's annual holiday show, Joy of the Season, in Meymandi Concert Hall. Singers in the ensemble are selected by audition and represent high school choral programs and home-schooled students from across Wake, Durham, and the surrounding counties.
