Duke Chapel Choir Auditions
Duke University Chapel is holding auditions for all voice parts for its three choral ensembles: Chapel Choir, Evensong Singers, and Vespers Ensemble. These ensembles require choral singing skills and proficiencies, and offer rich musical experiences and collegial camaraderie.
Duke Chapel Choir, led by Dr. Zebulon Highben (Director of Chapel Music) rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm until 8:30pm, and sings at the Chapel’s regular Sunday morning services.
Duke Chapel’s Evensong Singers is led by Dr. Philip Cave and rehearses Monday evenings and leads Evensong Services in the Anglican tradition on alternating Sunday afternoons at 4pm.
Duke Chapel’s Vespers Ensemble sings for special services throughout the academic and liturgical year featuring music of the renaissance and baroque, and rehearses on Thursday evenings.
Some staff singer positions are also available for all three ensembles. Please inquire about expectations and commitments for staff singers at Duke Chapel.
Auditions are approximately 20-30 minutes in length. Bring a hymn, song, or aria in the classical tradition to offer for your audition, and be prepared to show your aptitude in sight-singing.
To schedule an audition, please contact the Chapel Music office at 919.684.3898 or chapelmusic@duke.edu and let us know for which of the three ensembles you are interested in auditioning.
