Messiah in Mebane, Chorus & Orchestra
The Mebane Community Choir will present the Christmas portions of George Frideric Handel’s master oratorio, Messiah, on Sunday afternoon December 8 at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Mebane Presbyterian Church, 402 South Fifth Street in Mebane, North Carolina.
The performance will include all of Part I and portions of Part II, including the Hallelujah chorus, and conclude, as Handel originally intended, with Worthy is the Lamb and the great Amen choruses from Part III.
For the first time, a 14-piece orchestra, including strings, brass, timpani, and organ will accompany the chorus and soloists, all performing under the baton of Maestro Sam Doyle, Greensboro, conductor and music director. Serving as concert master is Richard Dunn, Jamestown. Soloists are Amy Dudley, soprano, Mebane; Kayla Brotherton, alto, Greensboro; Sean Toso, tenor, Greensboro; and Forest Bunter, bass, Greensboro; Tom Jones, organist Mebane.
To participate in the chorus, attend one or both of the rehearsals with Maestro Doyle on Sunday November 24 and December 1 (2:00-3:30 pm) AND Saturday December 7 (10:00 a.m.-Noon) with the orchestra. All events take place in the sanctuary of Mebane Presbyterian Church.
