Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play by Anne Washburn
STEP INTO A FUTURE TRANSFORMED
Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play takes you on a wild ride through a post-apocalyptic world where fragments of pop culture, specifically episodes of The Simpsons, become the foundation for a new society. This darkly funny and thought-provoking play explores themes of memory, community, and the enduring power of storytelling.
What will endure when the cataclysm arrives – when the grid fails, society crumbles, and we’re faced with the task of rebuilding? Anne Washburn’s imaginative dark comedy is an animated exploration of how the pop culture of one era might evolve into the mythology of another.
While it’s primarily a play, Mr. Burns incorporates music and songs throughout its narrative, particularly as the story progresses and characters begin to use music as a form of entertainment and connection in a post-apocalyptic world.
