Welcome to the Johanna Nordhorn Voice Studio! I’m so glad you’re here.
As a professional opera singer and voice teacher at the collegiate and private levels for almost 20 years, I bring a wealth of experience, compassion, and knowledge to my lessons. I love to encourage my students and base my teaching on catering to the individual needs of each singer, infusing them with the confidence, creativity, and practical skills they need to succeed in music. My number one goal is for all of my students to sing with a healthy, beautiful technique that will carry them through a LIFETIME of singing in any style; my number two goal is that they enjoy it! I find that the right teacher supports the voice AND the individual using it. Many of my students have gone on to their own professional musical careers as performers in multiple genres, music educators, and music therapists.
Additionally, I am a certified Reiki Master Teacher and offer sessions in this gentle, healing modality. Reiki is a Japanese relaxation technique that relieves stress and promotes healing on all levels: physical, mental, and spiritual. It is a lovely pairing to voice lessons and many of my voice students have chosen Reiki to help support their daily lives or specific singing issues, like performance trauma, nerves, or body tension. Reiki can be incorporated into lessons at no additional charge.
